..."Su Lin went wild for the snow," said Karl Drilling, a zoo visitor from Temecula, California. "She was sliding down slopes in her habitat, moving the snow around. She even stuck her tongue out like a toddler and looked like she was smiling at one point."

A three-month-old polar bear cub presses his paw and nose against the glass as he encounters snow for the first time, at Aalborg Zoo in Denmark. A zoo spokesman said: ''The cub is having a grand old time enjoying the snow. At just three months old the cub spends a lot of time playing with mom and biting everything it finds interesting, particularly mom's paws."
A meerkat puts his arm around another in Makgadikadi Salt Pan, Botswana. The adult meerkat seems to be saying "One day, son, all this will be yours" as the pair scann the horizon together. The moment was caught on camera by caterer Thomas Retterath, 48, from, Nurburg, Germany.
Photographer Danny Green captured this cute dormouse hibernating in a nest box. He says: "I was working on a project which formed part of a dormouse re-introduction programme in Devon. I went round the nest boxes with the licensed handlers as they were weighing and checking the dormice hibernating inside them. We managed to find a couple in such a deep sleep they didn't even stir as they were picked up and examined." The tiny rodents can hibernate for six months out of the year - and even longer if the weather remains cool.
