Ectopia Cordis operation - Phẫu thuật tim lạc chỗ

Doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) successfully operated on the 10 days old miracle baby, who was born with his heart protruding through his chest, on Thursday 3rd Sep. 2009.

Doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) successfully operated on the 10 days old miracle baby, who was born with his heart protruding through his chest, on Thursday 3rd Sep. 2009.

In India, this 10 days old is the only first baby to have survived this uncommon medical condition – Ectopia Cordis – for such a long period and to successfully survive the hard surgical treatment.

The baby was born with a uncommon medical condition called Ectopia Cordis. Worldwide, 230 such cases have been reported and only three people have survived this condition.
What is Ectopia Cordis?

It is a very uncommon congenital abnormality in which the heart protrudes outside the body either from chest or neck. In only some cases, it protrudes from the abdominal cavity. A majority of such babies are either still born or die within hours after birth.

Causes:

No perfect cause is identified. The failure happens when the sternum forms during the gestation period and the heart begins to mature in the wrong place.

In this path-breaking surgical treatment, the surgeons have created a new world record by doing the operation without suspending his body functions.

“We decided to do the surgical treatment without suspending his body functions. As there was no gap in his body to hold the heart, we formed a gap between the chest and abdomen to relocate the heart. Then step by step rotated the heart and put it back in the newly formed space,” said Dr AK Bisoi, additional cardiothoracic surgeon, AIIMS, who led the whole doctors team.

The newborn baby has been moved to Cardiac Care Unit and doctors say that every hour now is very important for the baby. “We have to closely watch the baby. Every hour is vital. We have to see how he responds to the surgery. Every stage was a challenge and the reality that he has survived for 10 days itself is an achievement,” said Dr Bisoi.

But the most important success for the doctors is that they could operate upon him on while his heart was beating. In the beginning, the doctors had planned that the baby will be put on a heart-and-lung machine and his body temperature would be lowered to 18 degree Celsius thereby suspending his body functions for a period of 30 minutes.

The operation started at 9 am on Thursday and was done in three-and-half-hours.

Fernand Leger and his cubist paintings Và tranh lập thể (1881 - 1955)

Fernand Leger and his cubist paintings Và tranh lập thể (1881 - 1955)

French painter, sculptor, and filmmaker Fernand Léger was a major figure in the development of cubism, known best for his “machine art” and industrial landscapes that celebrated the rise of our century's technology.

Joseph Fernand Henri Léger was born February 4, 1881, in Argentan, Normandy into a peasant family, the son of a cattle-drover. When he left home at sixteen, he was apprenticed to an architect in Caen (1897-1899). This led to his employment as a draughtsman in Paris where he worked from 1900-1902. A year later, his attempts to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts were foiled when he failed the entrance exam. Never giving up, he settled for completing his studies at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and the Academie Julian.

In 1909, Léger participated in an exhibition at the Salon des Indépendants. One of his early paintings ‘Nudes in the Forest’ demonstrates an evolving cubist expression. He and several other artists became part of the Puteaux Group, an offshoot of the Cubist movement. Major works from this cubist period include ‘La Noce’ (1911-12), ‘Woman in Blue’ (1912), and ‘Contrasts of Forms’ (1913). Until the First World War, his work had become increasingly abstract, limiting his palette to consist of bright flat colors.

In 1914, Fernand Léger served with the French army in the First World War. His experience as a stretcher-bearer served to inspire two of his most acclaimed works, 'The Soldier with a Pipe'(1916) and 'The Game of Cards' (1917). The power of the machinery used during the war had an overwhelming affect on the artist, and inspired many of his works in the ‘mechanical’ phase of his career. ‘The City’ is one of his most notable paintings from this period.

Inspired by a Chaplin feature film, Léger began work on the set design for his first film L'Herbier's L'Inhumane in 1923. His contribution to the futuristic film ‘Le Ballet Mecanique’ brought him great success and recognition.

Between 1924 and 1926, the artist returned to painting still life, and created large, abstract and decorative murals. ‘Objects in Space’ is part of a series of works that portray architectural elements replaced by scattered objects.

Fernand Léger traveled throughout Europe in the 1930’s, and made his first visit to the United States where he exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1935. A year later, he worked on the costume designs for ‘Things to Come,’ a British adaptation of an H.G. Wells story. In 1940, He settled in the United States and started teaching at Yale University. A return to France in 1945 inspired a desire to open up his own academy where he produced works that were less abstract. Instead, he concentrated on portraying acrobats, construction workers and other members of the working class. 'The Builders' (1950) is an example of his artistic efforts to depict the common man. In 1949, the artist opened a studio for ceramics, and in 1954, he created the glass mosaics for the University of Caracas.

In his late years, Léger created works that featured boldly outlined shapes framed in color that brought two separate compositions together as one. ‘The Great Parade’, one of his last paintings, is a monumental example of this original style.

Besides the windows and tapestries for the church at Audincourt (1951), some of the final paintings created by the artist include ‘Country Outing’, ‘The Camper’, and the series ‘The Big Parade’. Léger's work greatly influenced the movements of neo-plasticism in the Netherlands and constructivism in the Soviet Union. Posters and other types of applied art were also influenced by his original designs. Fernand Léger died at his home in 1955 and was buried in Gif-sur-Yvette, Essonne.

Four wives always better than one? - Bốn vợ hay hơn một vợ?

Four wives always better than one? - Bốn vợ hay hơn một vợ?
13.04.2011

The debate regarding officially allowing polygamy in Russia has been going on for years. The main arguments in favor of polygamy are the existing families with multiple wives, whose position is now not protected by law, as well as shortage of men. Perhaps the fate of the third or fourth wife is better than being alone?

Peculiarities of life in a polygamous family have long become a familiar topic on Muslim forums and dating sites. There are people on these forums asking for advice on how to improve relations between the first and second wife. On dating sites men can indicate "single, looking for marriage" or "married, looking for another wife."

The Quran permits polygamy, but under certain conditions. "If you fear that you cannot be fair to the orphans (in your care), then marry (other) women you like - two, three, four. If you fear that you cannot take care of them (i.e., wives) equally, marry one, "says Surah An-Nisa.

Responding to questions from those willing to enter into a polygamous marriage, Islamic theologians have consistently pointed out that one of the major conditions under which a true Muslim is allowed to have multiple wives is their full equality before the husband. In Muslim countries where polygamy is allowed, a man can have up to four wives, each of the wives has to be provided with a separate house. All the houses are built according to the same design so the wives do not feel deprived. Of course, only wealthy people can afford this, and in poor families all the wives and children of one man can live in a shack or on a farm together. This, however, leads to the violation of certain rules of the Muslim family residences. In particular, it violates the rule that none of the wives should see her husband going into a bedroom with her rival. The attention of the husband, too, should be equally distributed among the women. The husband has to spend equal number of nights with each of his wives, with the exception of the nights when a wife wants to miss her turn for one reason or another.

Regardless of age, the first wife has the title of "senior" and the fourth - the "younger". Other wives are referred to in order. According to the tradition, if the entire family lives together, the responsibility of the younger wife is the education of all children, regardless of who their biological mother is. The second and third wives have to take care of the household, and the eldest of all directs and assigns duties.

Proponents of legalized polygamy often point out that, according to a recent census, there are approximately 11 million more women than men in Russia, and every woman wants to get married. According to them, the women who are not able to get married still become second or third wives, only in European culture this status is called a "mistress."

In July of 1999 Ruslan Aushev, then president of Ingushetia, allowed polygamy in the country by his decree. However, the decree was suspended by Boris Yeltsin as contrary to the Russian Family Code.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky has repeatedly called for legalization of polygamy in Russia. In 2000 he introduced a bill that allowed men to have up to four wives, with mandatory consent of all existing spouses. The proposal was rejected.

The president of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov also supports the idea of polygamy. "I am in full support of it," he answered a reporter's question about polygamous family. According to Ramzan Kadyrov, polygamy is better than leaving the family for a mistress. "This is better for a man than humiliating his wife by having a mistress, give jewelry and other gifts to prostitutes, and keeping his wife and children in need. If Allah permits polygamy, if the opportunity allows, you should provide equal rights for all wives,"- he said in an interview with Interfax.

What do women think of the issue of polygamy? Of course, there are women who are willing to share their husband with other women. There are cases where Russian ladies were not the only wives of Muslims husbands and even converted to Islam. They explained their choice by the fact that all Russian young men were drunks and there were no normal Russian men left, while polygamous marriage, even with an older man of a different confession, gave them hopes to experience a happy family life and raise children.

Malay Organization for Women's Rights "Sisters in Islam" is struggling to introduce the requirements of a polygamous marriage described in the Quran. In 1984, Islamic Family Law was introduced that listed five conditions to be followed by a Muslim who wanted to have more than one wife. He must have an appropriate financial situation; he must ensure that all wives are kept under the same conditions; existing wife or wives shall not be harmed, a new marriage shall be "just and necessary", a new marriage shall not, either directly or indirectly, lower the standard of living of the existing wife and other dependents. In 1996 the last condition was repealed, and in 2004 "just and necessary" was replaced with "just or necessary".

After some investigation, female Muslim human rights activists presented the men of their country the following claims: it turns out that, contrary to the requirements of the Quran, some men married second and third wives not only without being able to provide for them, but rather to force women to work and live at their expense. Income estimate of one polygamous family revealed that the husband brought in only a third of the total earnings. Many men did not remember the names of all their children, they did not recognize them in person, and, when meeting them, asked: "Which mother are you from?"

According to a poll conducted by FOM, the opponents of polygamy in Russia fear precisely this scenario. According to them, today quite a few Russian men do not bother themselves with hard work, preferring to live off financially secure wives. In the event of formal recognition of polygamy, when these men have three or four bread winners, "they will simply perch themselves on the sofa and lit up a hookah." In general, the idea of polygamy does not find support of over 60 percent of Russians. According to them, love is the matter of two people, and polygamy is not consistent with Russian mentality.

43804.jpegOn March 24, well-known Russian astrologists, shamans and parapsychologists gathered to discuss forecasts for near and distant future.

"The phenomenon that they call the world financial crisis, and which, as they believe, is now ending, was not the financial crisis per se. It was just an omen of the imminent crisis. The real financial crisis is going to take place in the future," astrologist Aleksei Kolov said in the beginning of the meeting.

The most impressive astrological forecast was made by Pavel Globa: "Many attack me now claiming that I was promising Russia a quiet year. What kind of quiet year is it if earthquakes rattle Japan. But Japan is not Russia. There will be wars in the world this year, but everything will be fine in our country, except for the summer. The summer is going to be tough: there will be three eclipses in a row in June-July. This year, there will be six eclipses in total. We had such a catastrophic year as this one 20 years ago, when the Soviet Union collapsed," the astrologist said.

Eclipses will cause a lot of trouble this year, Globa warned. By the moment of the latest one, which is going to take place on December 10, armed conflicts will occur on the Balkans. Terrorists will plant a bomb at the Nobel Prize award ceremony.

According to Globa, this year can be compared to 1939 - the year preceding WWII, from the point of view of astrological data.

The participants of the meeting also unveiled the date for the beginning of Third World War. The new war is said to begin in March of 2014, during the Olympic Games in Sochi. It is also possible that the war may start five days after the Games end. Globa did not say in which country exactly the war would begin. He only said that the African revolutions would slowly be moving towards Russia. Massive protests will eventually spark in Central Asia, the astrologist said. According to Globa, such events are happening because of the Black Moon. NATO attacked Libya the day when the Black Moon allied itself with the sun. When the Black Moon allied itself with Uranus, the Japanese earthquake occurred.

In the nearest future, one shall expect revolutions in Syria and Yemen. The Yemeni leader will be toppled only in three years, though. Algeria will be the luckiest country among them all: the riots there will not last long.

"I studied the horoscopes of the leaders of all countries of the region. The Algerian president is the only leader who has no charisma at all. By the way, his birthday is the same day with Gorbachev - March 2nd, 1931. He will leave peacefully. They'll even give him a yacht and a villa. There will be no revolution in Algeria. As for Gaddafi's fate, the problem is that no one knows his birth date - it's either 1937 or 1940 or 1942. If he was born on June 7 indeed, he will die on his birthday - there is an eclipse just near that date. But I don't believe that he is a Gemini. He acts like an Aquarius. Newspapers have recently written that he is a son of a French pilot, they even published a photo of the pilot. I saw the photo - they both look the same indeed," Pavel Globa said.

Parapsychologist Larisa Vais did not predict anything positive either.

"It's going to be a long spring, the summer will be hot, six-fingered children and beasts will be born. I saw it inside of me," she said.

The parapsychologists also saw (inside of her as well, apparently) that the "supreme commander-in-chief" is already looking for his successor. The successor's name will start with a letter 'K'. Larisa Vais said that such visions had never tricked her before. Back in 1996, Larisa saw a Ukrainian woman with a braid. The parapsychologist even mentioned that in one of her interviews to a well-known Russian journalist during those years.

Now Larisa Vais can see a woman as well. This woman, Vais said, would be ruling Russia from behind the back of her husband, the president.

Speaking about global problems, Larisa Vais said that Japan would suffer from other mammoth earthquakes. "A lot of people will die on the planet this year," she said.
Andrei Dondukov, a shaman from Tuva Republic, said that the year 2009 marked the beginning of the era of Yamaraj, the god of death. "Everyone will be held accountable for all they did. Death will be especially close on November 5," shaman said.

Dondukov confirmed Vais's predictions. According to him, men lost their true power a long time ago. "We are living in the era of pseudo-patriarchate. This era will soon end and matriarchate will return," he said.

Russia will survive this change of trend easily. Dmitry Medvedev will remain the nation's ruler. Medvedev is the man, whom Russian Buddhists recognized as the incarnation of female deity - White Tara.

When asked about Putin's role, Dondukov said that Putin is a fighter.

"Putin is a military man, and Medvedev does yoga. There are two types of men in general. One of them is the horizontal type - this is where military men refer to. There's also the vertical type of men - they aim for spiritual growth. Medvedev is a true czar, the Lord's Anointed. Putin is just a duke," shaman Dondukov said.

The Miracle' of Floating Rock in Jerusalem Or is it a hoax? Tảng đá nổi huyền bí ở Jerusalem hay chỉ là giả tạo?

The Miracle' of Floating Rock in Jerusalem Or is it a hoax? Tảng đá nổi huyền bí ở Jerusalem hay chỉ là giả tạo?

Flying Rock or Floating Rock, this is widely spread picture of the rock dubbed as miracle of Allah. It is said that the rock wanted to follow the Prophet Muhammad ascending to heaven in the event of Israk Mikraj in Jerusalem.

To begin with, just look at the image at right. It is a widely spread picture in the internet, especially within muslim community. Some call this floating rock, some flying rock or stone. Some even call this a miracle of Allah, of the Prophet or Islam. What make the picture an 'attention grabber' are also the stories that accompanied the emails or blogs about it.

Here are several summaries of the stories:

It is said that the rock is in Jerusalem. It was the rock where the Prophet Muhammad stood when he begin the ascend to heaven during the Israk Mikraj event. The rock was said wanted to follow the Prophet ascending to heaven, but the Prophet stop it. So it stopped the ascend and staying afloat until now.
Another story adds the above description and said that it is is now under the Dome of the Rock, in the Palestine. Some said the rock is now tightly guarded by the israely soldier as not to attrack muslim and to cover the miracle of the Prohet of Allah.
Some said it is a rock in eastern part of Saudi Arabia, in a village called Al Hassa. The rock is said to float about 10 cm from the ground at a specific time every year and then sit back on the ground.

Many muslims believe the stories and account the picture to be true and eagerly said: 'Allahu Akbar! (Allah is the great!)' or 'this is the miracle of Allah'. Many others questioned it. Still among the non-muslims, the picture raised some doubt and questions: is the picture real?

From my point of view, it is just a hoax because:

1. The picture is 'too good to be true'. If it is floating, and in open air, near a village (see the car, electricity cables and the house), flocks of people, radio and tv channel crews, and all sort of media would surely have published the pictures and the story. It should already have had its own blog, for sure. Yet, we only have this single picture and vague comments about where and what it is.

2. The story about the rock has no authentic reference from the islamic sources like hadiths or the saying of the Prophet. (if someone has the proof that IT HAS, please let me know)

3. It can be shown that the picture has been somehow manipulated or doctored. Several people pointed to the part below the rock, under the shadow. See below.

The true story of the 'floating rock'

After sometime of believing that the picture is not true without able to prove it, I finally come accross an arabic forum where the members discussing this. Thanks to image search engines, I can show you the pictures below that show the original rock in several viewing angles. The pictures show why the 'floating rock' is almost so convincing that many people reject to accept that such is only a manipulated image. The rock itself is unique, and is supported by at least three rock structures below it. The supporting rocks seem to be a continuous part of the rock that unite it with the ground. The supporting rocks are relatively very small compared to the size of the rock above them.

That fact explains why it is easy to manipulate the rock to be 'floating'. By photographing the rock at the right angle, one can have a picture where the supporting rock can be erased without manipulating other part of the whole image. Such small manipulation was enough to produce the miraculous 'floating rock'.

Here are several of the pictures:

Strange roots and fruits in Vietnam - Củ quả kỳ lại ở Việt Nam

Củ khoai nặng 25 kg - a 25 kilo potato
